In many underserved communities, access to reading materials and structured reading support is limited.

Many children, especially those aged 5–15, grow up without ever owning or even seeing a storybook. This lack of exposure hampers their language development, critical thinking, creativity, and academic performance.

To nurture a reading culture and build foundational literacy skills, Children Reachout Uganda is organizing a two-day reading camp themed “Readers are Leaders”—a message that emphasizes the link between leadership and reading: Leaders Read.

Children Reachout Uganda believes that children can only reach their full potential if they learn how to read and comprehend what they read.

We implement this through four major programs, namely: the Spelling Bee, Reading Spaces, School Book Week, and other Reading Initiatives.

In order to succeed in life, every child should ideally finish school with a lifelong love of reading and the necessary literacy skills.
